RAVENCRY is the second book in the Raven’s Mark series, continuing the story that began with the award winning epic fantasy BLACKWING.
Four years have passed since Nall’s Engine drove the Deep Kings back across the Misery, but as they hurl fire from the sky, darker forces plots against the republic.
A new power is rising: a ghost in the light known only as the Bright Lady manifests in visions across the city, and the cult that worship her grasp for power even as the city burns around them.
When Crowfoot’s arcane vault is breached, an object of terrible power is stolen, and Galharrow and his Blackwings must once find out which of Valengrad’s enemies is responsible before they have a chance to use it.
To save Valengrad, Galharrow, Nenn and Tnota must venture to a darker, more twisted and more dangerous place than any they’ve walked before: the very heart of the Misery.

Firstly a massive thank you to Gollancz for accepting my request on Netgalley for a review copy of this book.
Last year when I read Blackwing, Ed McDonald’s first book in the Raven’s Mark series I was utterly blown away by it, so much so that when I came to write a review I was unable to find the words describe how much I loved the book.
If I love the first book in a series I am always very dubious as to whether the sequel is going to live up to the precedent set by the first book as over the years I have read many books where you see a drop in quality in sequels. Due to this when I came to read Ravencry I was worried even though I knew that Ed McDonald was going to produce something spectacular.
So did Ravencry live up to the hype I had for it and the precedent set by Blackwing? It has done this and so much more.
When I came to write this review I faced the exact same issue as I did when reviewing Blackwing, finding words to describe how much I loved the book. To me that shows more love for a book than any words can describe.
What made Ravencry all the more impressive is not only did Ed McDonald take all the elements I loved about Blackwing but he also added a slight mystery twist to the book and delved deeper into world as a whole. This not only enhanced the experience of world as it stood but also helps you better understand the history of particular characters and their experiences.
Ravencry has all the makings of an amazing book and I don’t think there is single aspect of it that I didn’t like. In all the years I have read fantasy books I don’t think I have ever come across a series that I have loved as much this and due to this Ed McDonald has become one of my favorite fantasy authors of all time (up there with Brandon Sanderson & J.R.R Tolkien).
With all of the above in mind if you haven’t read Blackwing then I highly recommend you do so. Whether you are about to start Blackwing or Ravencry I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. Ravencry is a fantastic addition to the Raven’s Mark series and I am greatly looking forward to see what Ed McDonald has planned next for the series.
I am one of many taking part in the blog tour for the release of Ravencry. I hope the other blogs enjoyed Ravencry as much as I did and I look forward to seeing their reviews. Below is list of the other blogs taking part with the associated dates for the tour.

I really need to start this series! I definitely feel like I’m missing out😊
